SHE MOVED ME TO THE SEA
She rushed to the little girl
Under a white light
Shining on her head
Like a spot light
The little girl cried
Tears down her cheeks
Over her mouth
That had been silenced
Onto the floor
Where she knelt
Doubled over
From a spiritual wound
The woman
Strong and bold
Covered in compassion
Filled with love
Scooped up the girl
A precious child in her arms
She pulled her into her heart
The beam of light softened
Now warm and full
Encompassing them both
Only a single finger
To wipe away the tears
Only a single whisper
To remove the pain
Into the ear of the small child,
“It’s ok, you are loved”
Comforting the girl who deserves better
The girl who waded though a river of pain
Making it though to the sea
With the woman
Cleansed and made whole
In an ocean of benevolence
You are me
Said the woman
And I came to move you
To the sea
To heal you
From within yourself
You are me
I am you
We are free
And she was me
THE GOLDEN HEART
I saw a vision
Of healing
Wounds of childhood
A broken heart taken out
It’s pieces thrown into the fire
Forged anew into a golden heart
Given to me by God
Places in my chest
It grew
Bigger than my body
It circles around me making a bubble
Memories flooded into my mind
And as the golden heart spun
It protected me from the experiences
That broke my old heart
Each scene that came to me
Was changes by the protection of my new heart
I relived all of the painful moments
The times I was afraid
Wit the new heart surrounding me
Making me brave
Watching over me
Keeping me from harm
Until I got to today
And the heart settled back into my chest
Fully renewed
Willfully strong
Ready, I rise from the water
And took my first breath
The weather dripped around me
As I placed my foot on the path
The sun on my body
I walked into its light
Recovered and changed
My journey begins
RESCUED BY MY OWN HEART
Broken by family
Harboring mistrust for decades
Sunken to the bottom of the ocean
Over grown and encrusted
Encased in the weight of the world
I was a small girl
Sweet
A pure heart
Trying hard to please
Yet they turned me away
Abused
Accused
Abandoned
By the ones I loved the most
How could I trust again?
How could I even try?
So many times their love passed me by
Right in front of my eyes
Tormented
Tortured
Terrified
I grew up this way
I’m not sure how I found the strength
I’m not sure when I chose to keep on
Pushing through each challenge
At times riding above
Other times holding my breath below
Each crash of the waves of pain
I endured
But alone in the sea of changes
I swam
Each time I made it past another storm
I looked back thinking
“How did I even do that?”
And then thinking
“It doesn’t matter, I did it”
And I did it again
So many times
Until I saw myself
As strong
I never let my sweetness go
I never grew hardened
I found new people to trust
I looked for new love
To give my heart
I reached out my hand
And grabbed my heart
I held it
I harbored my heart with love
Safe and secure
My strength
My resilience
My resourcefulness
Saved me
Keeps me
And somehow that little girl already knew
That she always had everything she needed
By simply being herself
RESILIENCE IS SELF LOVE
A strength of the soul
Isn’t born within us
But from the fires we walk through
Every sinking ship
Every broken relationship
The hurt and the harm
The narcissist and his charm
The accident that shattered and tore
The illness that lingers
Every ounce of resilience
Is at the tip of your fingers
You can find it in your smile
In the darkness
And in those deep breaths you take
As you continue on
Despite hardships
Every that you keep on keeping on
Is your gift to you
Showing yourself all you can do
It’s easy when life is good
But when you face challenges
And want to stop
But don’t
You have given your soul food
That nourishes the mind
And shows your heart
That you are still here
And totally in love
With yourself
