CELIAC DISEASE BOOK PROJECT: Michelle’s current writing project. Be a research participant by filling out the questionnaire! Everyone can participate in the “Gluten Free in the Media” audience response survey. Be an important part of this important project for the Celiac Community.

CELIAC BLOG: This page is a work in progress. Most of the blog pages are unfinished and are working drafts for the Celiac Book Project. Several pages serve as repositories for preliminary data divided by subject of survey results conducted by Michelle. Other relevant blog entries that were previously published and written by Michelle are also included in the Celiac Blog section. Finally preliminary drafts of chapter topics will be posted as Michelle contimues to work on her passion project, The Celiac Book Project.

SHARKEY’S STORIES: This blog page is a collection of personal stories written by Michelle. Some of the blog entries are not fully edited and are in varying stages of rewrites but act as a working repository for a collection by Michelle. Some stories were previously published and many are works in progress.

BIO & HISTORY OF SSD: Michelle Sharkey founded Service: Style & Design in Memphis, TN in 2014. Michelle’s experience as an entrepreneur, writer and artist inspired her to create a unique new project housed in a renovated vintage Airstream RV. Michelle’s previous business in Athens, GA called WHOLE: Mind. Body, Art. Studio incorporated classes, workshops, and special events as well as a sustainable clothing boutique right across from UGA in downtown Athens. The brick and mortar location of Athens hosted enrichment activities and events ranging from art, fitness, writing, craft/homesteading, musical concerts and more. WHOLE worked often with UGA including the Ghana fashin design program and the Art Grand students to host and mentor UGA students. In Memphis, Michelle decided to open an mobile project. Service: Style & Design and the renovated Airstream was a the natural progression for Michelle’s next project, incorporating art with sustainable fashion in a mobile shop located in the heart of Midtown on Madison Ave. Service: Style & Design (SSD)’s boutique featured revamped thrifted clothing with artistic graphic prints Michelle designed as well as classic vintage clothing and handmade items. Michelle also sold artwork and offered writing/editing services out of the mobile shop hosted in the lot of an antique store. Michelle also created and published her first coloring book, American Road Trip: Color Your Way to Calm from Coast to Coast (Little Brown) with graphic artist Brian Vaught in 2016. Service: Style & Design moved to Miami Florida in 2016 and became an online vendor and service provider. The Service: Style & Design Airstream was at first replaced by a vintage Shasta which was both rented to clients and used for pop up shop mobile events. However the SSD RV was later replaced by an investment studio boat. The boat hosts Michelle’s art and writing studio as well as online vintage store. As with the Airstream and Shasta, which Michelle renovated and sold, the studio boat is currently under renovation to sell for a new studio boat. Since the move to Miami, Michelle/SSD has published a second coloring book, Tropical Destinations: Boats to Beaches, A Calming Coloring Journey (Amazon), written for MacMillian textbooks, edited for the pentagon, hosted live art booths for Mont Blanc and renovated multiple RVs and Boats, Michelle’s artwork, current writing projects, art booth bookings etc can be found on this website.
